What’s new for the 2022 Toyota Tacoma?
The Toyota Tacoma has been a leader in its class for several years for several reasons. Chief among those reasons for the midsize truck’s popularity is its ability to dominate the off-road environment. As we approach the official beginning of the next model year, more and more people are coming to ask Gale Toyota product experts, ‘What’s new for the 2022 Toyota Tacoma?’ For starters, our manufacturing partner is introducing revised versions of the TRD Pro and Trail Edition models of the midsize pickup truck. Toyota pulled back the curtain on both 2022 Tacoma iterations and our team is excited to share a few things about both versions. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to see when the 2022 Tacoma goes on sale.

2022 Tacoma TRD Pro Features and Specs
When the 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro arrives at the Gale Toyota showroom, it will arrive from the factory with an additional inch-and-a-half of lift in the front and a half-inch of lift in the back, versus last year’s model. With the extra lift provided, the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro will have a 36.4-degree approach angle, 24.7-degree departure angle and feature a 26.6-degree breakover angle. Additionally, the truck’s suspension system has been vastly upgraded with new forged aluminum TRD-branded upper control arms to better handle off-road driving with an increased rebound stroke.
Toyota is providing the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro with a new wheel design and those wheels will come wrapped with Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires, adding to the truck’s prolific off-road legacy.
2022 Tacoma Trail Edition 4×4 Equipment
Like the TRD Pro model, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition 4×4 will have a factory-installed lift kit equipped. The Trail Edition 4×4 has 1.1 inches of extra front lift and a half-inch of lift in the back. Toyota released a Trail model for 2021 and it was outfitted with a lockable and insulated cooler. That feature will be carried over into the 2022 Tacoma Trail Edition 4×4. Also, the new Trail version of the Tacoma will stand apart from the other trim grades with a heritage-inspired grilled that will be accented with bronze-finished lettering.
Both new 2022 Toyota Tacoma models will use the same 3.5-liter, V-6 engine that will produce make 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque.
