While it may not be the “Little Red Corvette” that Prince sang about, the 2016 Toyota Sienna is much more than the boring minivan that it is often characterized as. With the debut of the track-tuned Toyota Sienna R-Line last year, the family-friendly minivan is ready to hit the track and disprove all of its doubters. When the Toyota Sienna R-Line competes in the 2016 One Lap of America event, the dynamic minivan will truly be put to the test.

What is the 2016 One Lap of America Race?

Designed to test the skill of drivers as well as the mettle of the vehicles they drive, the annual One Lap of America road rally will take drivers nearly 3,000 miles across the United States. Throughout the grueling eight-day event, drivers and their cars will drive through a dozen states and race at eight iconic tracks and courses. Teams will be measured by 17 timed events at race tracks, autocross courses, drag strips and skid pads. A true test of driving endurance, the One Lap of America event requires that teams race during the day and drive through the night between venues. This event is sure to put the Toyota Sienna to the test.

Toyota Sienna R-Line and Toyota Sienna SE+ Features and Specs

While the Toyota Sienna R-Line is the highlight of the event, it is not alone in this undertaking. Joined by the athletic and attractive Toyota Sienna SE+ Concept, the Toyota Sienna is sure to prove that it is much more than a simple people mover. The Sienna R-Line employs the standard 266-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to a standard automatic transmission, and is enhanced by an arsenal of TRD-tuned performance elements. Performance wheels and tires, tuned brakes, double-adjustable shocks, performance-tuned springs and a limited-slip differential make the Toyota Sienna R-Line capable of impressive track times.

Building on the athletic Toyota Sienna SE trim level, the Toyota Sienna SE+ is sure to turn heads when it hits the track. Reinvigorated front and rear bumpers are punctuated by new headlights and refreshed taillights. Black satin mirrors pair well with Laser Black 19-inch wheels clad with Pirelli P Zero tires, two-tone roof rails, an extended rear spoiler and black accents complete the Sienna SE+ package. Together these elements provide a fresh, new look that is matched by exciting performance.

These Toyota Sienna models will be driven by a team of veteran drivers, made up of Top Gear host Rutledge Wood, Grand Am Rolex GT Champion Craig Stanton, Sienna Chief engineer Andrew Lund and drag race specialist Sean Morris. During the event, the Toyota Sienna R-Line will race in the Truck/SUV class while the Toyota Sienna SE+ participates in the Exhibition class. A performance-tuned 2016 Toyota Avalon and a 2016 Scion FR-S will race in the 2016 One Lap of America road rally as well.
